16 OASD Students Complete Youth Apprenticeship Programs in 2017-18

Daniel C. and his mentor, Rob Durn, at CREW Congratulations to the 16 Oshkosh Area School District students who completed a Youth Apprenticeship during the 2017-2018 school year. Wisconsin’s Youth Apprenticeship program is part of a statewide School-to-Work initiative designed for high school juniors and seniors who want hands-on experience in an occupational area at a worksite, along with classroom instruction. This program combines academic instruction with mentored on-the-job learning. Students work a minimum of 450 paid hours while earning high school credits and gaining career exploration in their chosen fields. The students that participated in the Youth Apprenticeship program in 2017-2018 gained experience in the following areas: Engineering, Manufacturing, Information Technology, Finance, and Health Care.
