All schools within the Oshkosh Area School District (OASD) will now be in session on Monday, February 18, 2019. The decision was approved by the OASD Board of Education at a special meeting on February 8 to make up lost instructional time due to the recent inclement weather day on February 7, with additional conversation occurring at the next regularly scheduled Board Meeting to examine instructional time make-up options. February 18 was previously scheduled as a staff professional development day in the District and has now changed to an instructional day with all students attending school. The timeliness of the Board’s decision was required based on the proximity of the February 18 make-up day option, and the Board’s desire to provide families with as much time as possible to plan for the change.

Additional changes to the District calendar will be proposed and presented to the Board of Education for consideration during the next regular meeting on February 13, 2019. The proposed changes aim to make up lost instructional time should the District encounter additional inclement weather days before the end of the 2018-2019 school year along with a review of the current school calendar.

At this time the District has experienced four inclement weather days (January 28, 30, 31, and February 7). Two inclement weather days were built into the calendar by the length of the school day and can be absorbed; a third inclement weather make-up day was planned and currently will be used on June 10, 2019; and, the fourth inclement weather make-up day will now take place on February 18.
