On Saturday, May 18, the school communities will participate in the Oshkosh West Relay for Life fundraiser, from Noon to 8 p.m. at the Oshkosh West High School track. OASD families are invited and encouraged to participate, to sign-up visit http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?pg=entry&fr_id=93587. While families are invited to participate at any time, the following schedule is in place:
  • Elementary students/families from Noon - 2 p.m.
  • Middle school students/families from 2 - 4 p.m.
  • High school/community members from 4 - 8 p.m.

The event is organized by Oshkosh West students in the Student Athlete Volunteer Experience (SAVE) program. SAVE organized its first Relay for Life event in 2018 and focused on expanding the event this year. This year's event will follow the Relay for Life format, in which participants will take turns walking the track to symbolize the ongoing fight against cancer. Between laps, participants will have a variety of fun activities to explore. The group hopes to encourage a greater sense of community among the participating schools and their families while increasing its fundraising efforts. During the event, SAVE students will be organizing a variety of family-friendly games and activities including bean bag toss, kickball, football drills/games, Frisbee, tennis games, mini-soccer games, life-size jenga, board games, and more.

The Oshkosh West SAVE program aims to build the leadership skills of student-athletes while making a difference in the Oshkosh community.
