“A student’s brain physically changes every day and the way we teach either enhances or impairs it. By understanding HOW the brain learns, teachers can help students make significant gains.” (Jensen, 2003)
Neuroscience: The Foundation for Learning
Recent scientific evidence is changing our common belief about human development and is supporting that purposeful experience and positive environments can change the brain at any age! At the Jacob Shapiro Brain Based Instruction Laboratory School, we strive to better connect the mind, brain and education. By learning and applying principles and tools from neuroscience we have changed our belief system about the help and opportunity we have for every child. This has resulted in improved students learning.

Human development is a blend of environment and experiences. We can intentionally influence that development. "Parents, educators and society as a whole have a tremendous power to shape the wrinkly universe inside each child’s head, and with it, the kind of person he or she will turn out to be. We owe it to our children to help them grow the best brains possible.” (Eliot, 1999) We can change every child’s future.
