District Busing via Kobussen
The Oshkosh Area School District (OASD) provides free school bus transportation, via Kobussen Buses LTD., to students who live outside of the Oshkosh city limits or who live in various areas without sidewalks. Each August the District mails a letter to households with children who meet the District's eligibility guidelines. OASD students who do not live in areas served by school buses can choose to ride city buses (see GO Transit information below).
City Busing via GO Transit
The Oshkosh Area School District partners with GO Transit to offer free city bus rides for all students. This access began in September 2019 and is made possible through a partnership between the OASD, City of Oshkosh, and private funders.
To better support this partnership, GO Transit will start using a digital bus pass for middle and high school students; a paper pass will also be available for students who do not have a smartphone. Elementary students will not need a pass. This update will start as of Monday, January 23, 2023.
ACTION NEEDED: Students will need their OASD student ID number (printed on your physical student ID card and listed in your IC Student Portal) and access to their OASD email account to download a digital pass or to request a paper pass. Student ID Numbers
- For students with a smartphone: The student must download the Token Transit App and follow instructions on setting up an account. They will have access to a digital pass that is stored on their smartphone in the app. SEE INSTRUCTIONS.
- For students without a smartphone: The student must show their current student ID to obtain a paper student pass at their school office or at the GO Transit business office (926 Dempsey Trail, Oshkosh WI). SEE INSTRUCTIONS.
LEARN MORE / GET STARTED: GO Transit has created instructions for getting and using the Student Pass Program: GO Transit Student Bus Pass Instructions and User Guide
CONDUCT EXPECTATIONS: Students are expected to be responsible transit riders and as part of the program, students agree to follow the Ridership Rules for Students and GO Transit Ridership Policy. GO Transit drivers and staff reserve the right to refuse service and failure to follow GO Transit ridership rules may result in suspension of a student’s bus pass. (NOTE: Regular fares apply without a valid Student Bus Pass.)
CONTACT: Any questions about the new bus pass can be directed to GO Transit at 920.232.5340.
ROUTE INFORMATION: Many routes provide direct or very close service to schools and GO Transit also offers a few scheduled route deviations for students.
