CARE Days Brings Endless Smiles
Creating a fun, inclusive learning environment
The Oshkosh Area School District (OASD) recently came together to celebrate the 6th Annual C.A.R.E. (Celebrating Abilities, Rallying Everyone) Days on Wednesday, May 25 at Oshkosh West High School.
This year rain forced the event indoors and while students were unable to participate in the annual track and field events, they were able to experience an incredible carnival thanks to students from Oshkosh West and Oshkosh North High Schools. During the event, students in the District’s K-12 adapted physical education programs paired up with high school students to play carnival games and activities, and most importantly, build new relationships. Additionally, each special education student was able to invite a “choice cheerleader” from their home school to join them at C.A.R.E. Days and cheer for them during activities.
The vision of the event is to provide students that receive adapted physical education services an opportunity to engage with their regular education peers, rallying everyone, celebrating ALL abilities in a fun, physical environment which fosters success on every level.
Creating a fun, inclusive learning environment is the foundation for a strong community and the OASD is proud to offer such an engaging and impactful event. The District’s C.A.R.E. Days celebration is the largest inclusive event within the CESA 6 region.
