Family Info Sessions for Enrolling in 4K for 2023-2024

Calling all families with children who will be four years old on or before September 1, 2023!

The Oshkosh Area School District (OASD) is proud to provide a tuition-free, community-based, universal 4K program - known as Ready 4 Learning. Enrollment for the 2023-2024 school year opens on March 31, 2023 - available to any child that will be four years old on or before September 1, 2023.

ACTION NEEDED: Families that wish to have their child(ren) in Oshkosh’s free 4K program for the 2023-2024 school year, must complete the 4K enrollment process detailed below.

Enrollment in Oshkosh’s free 4K program is an online process that opens on March 31, 2023. Please follow the registration instructions below based on if you are a current OASD family, new to the OASD, or if you are unable to complete the online process. Once enrolled, parents/guardians will receive additional information, including where their child will attend 4K. The OASD will have 10 4K sites in the 2023-2024 school year - located in a few elementary schools, childcare centers, Head Start, and private preschools. 

How to Enroll Online:

  • OASD Families (who already have school-aged children in an OASD school): 
    • If you currently have students enrolled in the OASD, go to your IC Parent Portal to complete the annual enrollment/registration process, beginning March 31, 2023. You will be able to register your new 4K child and current students. (NOTE: The enrollment link will not be active until March 31.)
  • New Families (who do not yet have children in an OASD school):
    • If you are new to the OASD and do not have any students already enrolled in the District, click Enroll Now, beginning March 31, 2023. (NOTE: The enrollment link will not be active until March 31.)

How to Enroll In-Person: If you do not have access to a computer or if you need help completing the online process, please attend the In-Person 4K Registration Day on April 3, 2023  at the OASD Administration Office (215 S Eagle Street). Parents/guardians are able to attend anytime from 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. Staff will be available to help you complete the process and collect any needed paperwork. 

Required Paperwork and Information for 4K: The following must be uploaded during New Student Enrollment OR verified at In-person Registration: 

  1. Proof of birth date - Legal documentation that contains student’s full name, birthdate, gender, place of birth, and parent/ guardian information (e.g. original birth certificate, hospital record, child ID card, Native American Tribal document).  A child must be four years old on or before 09/01/2023. State law requires that the birth date be verified at the time of enrollment.
  2. Parent/Legal Guardian’s current driver’s license or state ID - In addition, if the parent on the birth certificate is not enrolling the student, legal guardianship papers are required or a Power of Attorney Form needs to be completed, notarized, and submitted.
  3. Proof of Residency - Examples include: deed of trust, last year’s real estate tax receipt, utility bill, credit card statement, current apartment or house lease in parent’s name. If the parent or guardian is not listed on the documents, however he/she is married to the owner/ leaseholder/ renter, a copy of the marriage license must be provided.
  4. Confidential Student Immunization record - Be sure to enter the complete date (month-day-year, e.g. 03/01/18) or bring a copy of your child’s immunization records. Note: Parents can access the Wisconsin Immunization Registry to obtain a copy of their child’s immunization records at https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/immunization/wir.htm. Wisconsin state law requires this information. 
  5. Health Examination Record - Please have your doctor complete and sign this form based on your child’s four-year-old check-up. They are welcome to fax it to the Office of Early Learning. If your child has not had their four-year-old check-up yet, please ask your doctor to fax it after their appointment. We will need to obtain a copy no later than 09/29/2023.
