We are excited to announce the launch of the new Oshkosh Area School District (OASD) website (www.oshkosh.k12.wi.us)! The new site will go live on Tuesday, October 22 - with the technical transition beginning Monday evening. Visitors/website users will not need to do anything differently as the new site will simply replace the existing site. However, during the transition and rollout process, there may be minor disruptions to access or content. While any disruption should be brief, we appreciate your understanding and patience.

The new website is one effort we are making toward improving communication with students, parents, and the community. As you may remember, the OASD’s website evaluation process began in fall 2018 with our district-wide website survey. The process continued as we solicited feedback from a project committee with representation from district staff, parents, and the OASD school board. We also carefully analyzed data and feedback from the existing website to learn what was most popular and what needed attention. Some features you can expect with the new website include:

Mobile-friendly and Accessible Design 
Our new website was built with a "mobile-first" mindset and utilizes a 100% responsive design. That means that the website automatically shifts to accommodate any size screen making fonts readable and images clearly visible on every device. No more "pinching and zooming" on smartphones! Additionally, all district webpages are accessible to all persons, including those with disabilities. Our site vendor conducted a formal quality assurance process, and we will continue to follow essential accessibility requirements. 

Enhanced Search Function
Each school webpage has it's own unique URL, which allows for more targeted search results. If there is something you are unable to locate, visitors can use the search tool in the upper right-hand corner of a page to search within the school site. To search for district resources, visitors can navigate to the district homepage and use the search tool in the upper right-hand corner.

School-based Customization and Staff Directory
Each school webpage is customized and includes a dynamic homepage that is specific to the school. Features include school-specific photos, branding, and upcoming events. Additionally, a school-specific staff directory is located on each school webpage, allowing visitors to search by building. (NOTE: A district-wide staff directory is available via the district homepage quick link.)

More Visible Calendar
In 2018, the District transitioned to a more robust and user-friendly online calendar system. Our new website also brings additional enhancements to the calendar, including highlighting upcoming events on the homepage and each school's webpage. 
 
We look forward to using our new platform to keep the community more informed about the great and exciting things happening in our District.
