Oshkosh West Celebrates Exceptional ACT Scores, Including a Perfect 36
The Oshkosh Area School District congratulates these students on their extraordinary accomplishments and looks forward to their future successes
The Oshkosh Area School District is proud to announce the outstanding academic achievements of three of Oshkosh West High School juniors on the recent ACT standardized test. Roman Stanuch achieved the rare distinction of a perfect score of 36, while Aria Boehler and Samuel Kuerschner each earned an impressive score of 35.
These exceptional scores place Roman, Aria, and Samuel among the top students nationwide, reflecting their dedication to academic excellence and the rigorous educational environment fostered at Oshkosh West High School. The ACT is a national college admissions examination that measures high school students' general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work.
"It feels great to see that all the effort I put into studying paid off," stated Roman Stanuch, who credited his success to "the hours spent practicing with resources like the pre-ACTs, PSAT, Xello, and the ACT Red Book."
Describing his initial reaction, Stanuch shared, "I was very surprised when I saw my score. I didn't believe I had gotten that score until I refreshed the page a few times."
Stanuch, an active member of the Oshkosh West Math Team, highlighted its role in his success. "My participation in Math Team helped me perform so well on the ACT because it promotes the critical thinking and application of knowledge found in all four sections of the ACT," he noted. Stanuch is also part of the Academy for Global Studies at Oshkosh West, which has provided him with community volunteer opportunities, including volunteering at the Camp Invention summer camp. Beyond these activities, Stanuch has also spent significant time independently developing his programming skills for school projects and for fun, creating several games, websites, and applications in preparation for his future endeavors.
Looking to the future, Stanuch plans to pursue a bachelor's degree in computer science at a university, with a dream of becoming a software developer at Pixar. He plans to apply to Stanford and UW-Madison.
"We are incredibly proud of Roman's perfect score, and of Aria and Samuel's outstanding achievements on the ACT," said Oshkosh West Principal Becky Montour. "These results are a powerful testament to their individual dedication and the inspiring work ethic we see in our students. They also reflect the unwavering commitment of our educators. We celebrate these individual successes as a reflection of the strong academic foundations being built across our district."
