Parent Survey: OASD Preparing for 2020-21 School Year

OASD Families - We want to hear from you! The OASD Parent Survey - Preparing for 2020-21 School Year was sent to OASD parents/guardians via your IC Parent Portal Account. The survey will remain open until midnight on July 26. The purpose of this survey is to obtain information from you to use as we finalize our plans for the 2020-2021 school year. There will be a Special School Board Meeting on August 5, 2020 to discuss how the District will be proceeding with school on September 1, 2020. Additional communication will be ongoing.

For the past several weeks, the Oshkosh Area School District (OASD), including administrators, teachers, and staff, has been developing student and staff-centered plans for the 2020-2021 school year. The plans are dependent upon the state of COVID-19 in the Oshkosh community and include (1) a return to in-person learning with some modifications, as well as (2) a hybrid of in-person and remote learning, and (3) fully remote learning if needed. We believe it is crucial to consider your feedback and needs as these plans are finalized.

First and foremost, we are planning and working to bring students back into a traditional classroom learning model with enhanced safety and health protocols in place to reduce the risk of virus exposure for both our students and staff. While we understand that for some of our families and staff, the thought of returning to school creates fear and uncertainty, for others, the thought of returning to a year of remote learning creates impossible questions between employment and the educational success of your student. We are committed to acting in the best interest of our students and staff and developing plans that allow us to quickly adapt as needed.

While we follow the recommendations of the Winnebago County Health Department, decisions related to the opening of our schools will be made by our district administration and school board. Planning and reopening will continue to require a flexible and fluid approach as the information, including state and federal guidelines, that we need to make informed decisions is subject to change between now and September, or after the school year has started.

We value your feedback and we ask that you please complete the survey to help guide our planning related to safely reopening schools amid COVID-19. Your input is crucial to helping us ensure students and staff have healthy learning and work environments. As a reminder, the survey is open from July 20 to 11:59 p.m. on July 26. Thank you in advance for your participation.
