Upcoming Groundbreakings and Open Houses
The OASD is celebrating Phase 2 of long-range facilities plan. The entire community is invited to celebrate expansions and renovations at Oakwood and Franklin Elementary Schools.
The Oshkosh Area School District (OASD) invites the community to celebrate the next milestone in its long-range facilities plan with two upcoming groundbreaking ceremonies and community open houses. The events will mark the start of significant expansion and renovation projects at Oakwood Elementary School on Friday, April 17, and Franklin Elementary School on Friday, May 8.
These projects represent Phase 2 of the District’s multi-phase, long-range facilities plan, designed to improve student safety by addressing aging buildings, improve services for students, and save money on operations through building consolidation. Supported by the success of the April 2025 capital referendum, both the Oakwood and Franklin projects will involve significant renovations, the construction of new academic wings, and new, larger gymnasiums. Once complete, these expansions will allow each school to serve up to 600 students.
These events offer a unique opportunity for families, alumni, neighbors, and the entire community to celebrate the district’s future while sharing memories of the current buildings before renovations and expansions begin.
"These projects are a direct result of our community’s commitment to our students and the future of our schools," said Dr. Bryan Davis, OASD Superintendent. "We are incredibly grateful for the support of the 2025 referendum and we are excited to welcome the community to see the plans and celebrate this milestone with us.”
Event Details
Each event will begin with a formal groundbreaking ceremony at 2:30 PM featuring district leadership and student representatives. Immediately following the ceremony, the public is invited to a Community Open House from 3 – 6 PM to tour the current buildings and share memories before renovations begin.
Oakwood Elementary School Groundbreaking & Open House
Date: Friday, April 17, 2026
Ceremony: 2:30 PM | Community Open House: 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Location: 1225 N Oakwood Rd, Oshkosh. Attendees may enter the site from the school’s back parking lot.
Franklin Elementary School Groundbreaking & Open House
Date: Friday, May 8, 2026
Ceremony: 2:30 PM
Community Open House: 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Location: 1401 W 5th Ave, Oshkosh.
The groundbreaking ceremonies will be held outdoors near active construction sites. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremonies will be moved indoors at the respective schools.
The OASD long-range facilities plan continues to transform the educational landscape of Oshkosh, building on the success of Phase 1 projects like Menominee Elementary and Vel Phillips Middle School.
