MLK Day Celebration 2025

The Oshkosh Area School District is excited to host the inaugural MLK Day Celebration on Monday, January 20, 2025 at Vel Phillips Middle School – Atrium (1401 Kentucky St). The event will begin with a complimentary continental breakfast at 8 AM.
The event will feature a variety of activities designed to honor Dr. King’s legacy and bring our community together, including:
- Community Connection & Breakfast – Enjoy a continental breakfast while connecting with attendees and listening to the Oshkosh North Jazz Band.
- MLK Essay Contest Winners – Celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students as we recognize the winners of the district’s MLK Jr. essay contest.
- Showcase of Student Talent – Experience powerful musical performances from the Perry Tipler Middle School Choir, Vel Phillips 8th Grade Choir, and Oshkosh Youth Choir.
- Keynote Address by Dr. Sam Coleman – Participate in an energizing and interactive reflection on Dr. King's enduring legacy and its vital relevance to building a more just and inclusive society today, delivered by OASD Assistant Superintendent of Instruction Dr. Coleman.
As a reminder, pre-registration is required by January 15 and students/children must be accompanied by a guardian.
