Westside Elementary Consolidation Overview
Through Phase 2 consolidation, the district will reduce from seven to five westside elementary schools. Westside elementary boundaries will be redrawn to welcome students from closed elementary schools. In addition to the project details listed above the following school closures will occur:
- Closure of Roosevelt Elementary: Roosevelt Elementary will be closed after the 2026-2027 school year, and the district will seek to sell the property.
- Temporarily, beginning Fall 2027, the former Roosevelt building will house 4K classrooms from Carl Traeger Elementary until the new Pre-kindergarten Center opens in Fall 2029.
- Closure of Shapiro STEM Academy: The existing Shapiro open-concept elementary school building will be removed to make way for the new middle school. Students currently attending Shapiro will be reassigned to other elementary schools within the district after the 2025-2026 school year.
