As the Oshkosh Area School District (OASD) prepares for and navigates the 2020-21 school year, we are committed to keeping our families, staff, students, and community members informed. The situation surrounding COVID-19 is evolving and we will regularly update this page. We encourage you to keep checking back for the latest information.
UPDATE AS OF 01.28.21: At the January 27 OASD Board Meeting, the Board of Education reconsidered a return to
five-day-a-week in-person learning and approved that the District will no longer use the OASD Instructional Models Matrix. School and district administrators will continue to closely monitor data at the district, building,
grade, and classroom level to decide if temporary learning model transitions are needed.
The OASD established a revised Instructional Models Matrix on December 14, 2020, with the goal of helping students, parents, staff members, and community members understand how transition decisions are being made and to provide more predictability for all those impacted.
The OASD COVID-19 Dashboard provides up-to-date COVID-19 information from each school building. This data is intended to provide a snapshot of the number of students and staff who have tested positive for COVID-19, as well as those required to quarantine due to being identified as a close contact at a specific point in time; it is updated on Mondays and Thursdays of each week.
The Addendum to the OASD 2020-21 School Year Plan was approved by the OASD Board of Education on 08.17.20. This document identifies criteria for changing between the four approved instructional models
for the Oshkosh Area School District (OASD).
(NOTE: The handbook provides a comprehensive guide to safety protocols and how the OASD will navigate instructional models amid COVID-19; it is currently available as a final draft and updates will be noted in red as/if needed.)
OASD parents/guardians/caregivers are strongly encouraged to monitor their children for signs of infectious illness every day. This is especially critical during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Students who are sick cannot attend school in-person. The following self-check should be completed by parents/guardians/caregivers for each child before sending them to school.
NOTE: A revised schedule for hybrid learning was announced on October 28, 2020. LEARN MORE
Key Change: When in Model 3: Hybrid Learning, PK-12 students will attend school in-person TWO days per week on the SAME days of the week each week; and every Wednesday will be a virtual day for ALL students. Please see below for a visual representation of the new weekly Model 3: Hybrid Schedule.
Students attend school in-person two days per week based on their initial A/B group assignment, on the other days students will learn virtually. As a reminder, students attend school VIRTUALLY on the day that corresponds to their A/B group assignment.
The hybrid weekly schedule is as follows Monday through Friday: Group A Day, Group B Day, Virtual Day, Group A Day, Group B Day (repeat weekly).
Group A students attend school in-person on Tuesdays and Fridays, are virtual on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays
Group B students attend school in-person on Mondays and Thursdays, are virtual on Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Fridays
ALL students (A and B) are virtual on Wednesdays
Each week will follow the same schedule, regardless of no school days or holidays.
Important Reminders
Students will remain in the A/B group that they were assigned in August 2020.
In-person supports, including five-day a week in-person learning, will continue to be provided to students based on intervention, English Speakers of Other Languages, and special education services.
Benefits of Model 3: Hybrid Learning Revised Weekly Schedule
Weekly schedules are consistent for students, families, and staff.
Students continue to have regular in-person contact with teachers and classmates.
Overall school capacity is reduced to allow for CDC guidelines to be followed.
The Group A Day / Group B Day calendar will remain unchanged and will be in effect whenever the District or individual schools are operating within Model 3, regardless of the day of the week that Model 3 begins. Additionally, A/B group assignments will remain the same for the entire 2020-21 school year. The A/B group assignment (provided on August 24, 2020) will be used whenever the District and/or schools are operating within Model 3.
