Elementary School Placements 24-25

This page provides important information about school placements for elementary students (grade K-5) for the 2024-2025 school year.

A letter was emailed to OASD elementary families on March 15, 2024 with detailed information, including their child's school placement for the 2024-2025 school year. Families should have received a separate email for each elementary child. 

  • Families should refer to the email(s) sent on March 15 (via the IC parent portal). Their child(ren)'s specific school placement for 2024-2025 will be listed in the email body.

School Placement Process

The school district used the following process for determining student school placements for the 2024-2025 school year. This process was developed based on the 2024-2025 opening of Menominee Elementary School, new northside elementary school boundaries (approved in May 2023), and the district's ongoing efforts to efficiently staff schools based on actual student enrollment across the district.

  • Allowing incoming grade 5 students to complete their final elementary year at the school they have been attending or with the classmates they have been with (if moving to Menominee Elementary).
  • If space was available, placing students who were involuntarily transferred at their neighborhood school.
  • Reviewing Out of Attendance Area (OOAA) requests and making placements if space allowed (after placing students who were previously involuntary transferred). This included returning and new OOAA requests, as requests are approved for one year only and prior approval does not guarantee future approval.

Finding Your Child's School Placement

Your elementary child's school placement for the 2024-2025 school year is based on their primary home address and the process outlined above. OASD parents/guardians were sent an email notice with their child's specific school placement (see details above).

School Placement Changes

The district reserves the right to change a child's school placement due to updated enrollment numbers, space limitations, and/or the need for balanced class sizes. Timely updates will be shared with parents/guardians if any changes are needed before the start of the 2024-2025 school year.

Next Steps

All OASD families are reminded to complete the district's Annual Student Update (online registration) process for returning 4K-12 students. The online process opens on April 1 via the IC Portal an secures their seat in the district. Students must be registered by September 1.
