Why We Need These Improvements

Aging Buildings Icon

IMPROVE STUDENT SAFETY BY ADDRESSING AGING BUILDINGS

  • Two Westside schools, over 100 years old, have outdated systems beyond their lifespan, posing risks of failure, mold, and asbestos, while also having classrooms about 180 sq. ft. smaller than recommended.
  • Resolve significant Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) access limitations
  • Add air conditioning at Read, Lakeside and Emmeline Cook elementary schools

  • Increase student access to full-time staff and services
  • Provide performance space at Oshkosh North High School
Save Money Icon

  • Gain annual operational efficiencies through staffing adjustments aligned with declining birth rates
    • $556,056 operational savings from Vel Phillips Middle School
    • $1,349,000 operational savings from Menominee Elementary School
  • Reduction in staff travel (i.e., teaching, maintenance, administration)
